Frequently Asked Questions
Lean2S MS is an automated production monitoring system designed to monitor the operational process of equipment, downtimes, production speed, and efficiency in real time. It helps make data-driven decisions, identify factors that hinder the production process, and increase production productivity.
The "2S" in the system's name stands for "Smart & Simple." This is the Lean2S philosophy – the system should be easy to use and smart, so that any employee can use it without IT knowledge. We apply the same principle to the system's adaptation and connection - to ensure that data is obtained in the simplest way and with the least costs.
The most common prevailing belief is that managers in production see and know everything, so additional monitoring tools are unnecessary.
Unfortunately, from long-term practice, we know that relying solely on manual data collection and production monitoring yields the following result:
- Only obvious process disruptions (downtimes) are noticeable, while small and often recurring issues, which also have a serious impact on the results, go unnoticed because they are often simply impossible to capture manually.
- Situation assessment often relies on employee opinions rather than actual data, which takes time to collect.
- Manually recorded data (e.g., duration and causes of downtimes, production quantities, failures) can be inaccurate, reported late, or not recorded at all.
- More often, opinions are relied upon rather than accurate data.
Lean2S MS automatically records even minimal device downtimes, allows for identifying their causes, and enables evaluation of the situation with accurate data.
Very often, clients are surprised when they first start using Lean2S, as they see a completely different work process situation than they thought.
No. This is a completely incorrect perspective. Monitoring is useful and necessary for both mass production and automated lines, as well as for individual devices and small companies. If you have even one device and want to constantly see how it operates and for what reasons it does not operate - Lean2S is just for you.
The number of monitoring locations and system users is unlimited (the number of Lean2S data collection devices used depends only on the connected equipment).
The system operates centrally and allows monitoring of several separate units simultaneously.
The system is well-suited and operates in both automated lines, individual devices, and manually operated workstations – sewing, assembly, welding, packaging, and more.
The monitoring system can be adapted to observe any process where there is mechanical movement, electrical current, or compressed air systems. It can also be adapted with various types of counters (specific situations need to be analyzed).
Yes. Lean2S integrates with ERP systems, Monitor, Odoo, Power BI, Alldevice, and other analytical and maintenance platforms.
Yes. We rely on TOC principles, and one of the main tasks is to identify production constraints. The system shows which devices or processes are blocking the production flow, allowing for quick action.
Lean2S automatically calculates OEE, Availability, and other metrics that allow for the assessment of equipment performance and reliability, maintenance efficiency, and other aspects.
There are also additional system modules that help monitor the execution of various tasks, discrepancies, troubleshooting efficiency, and more.
No. According to the monitoring system data and relevant additional modules, practically all company departments use it:
- production
- technical (repair) department
- quality department
- planning department
- technologists
- human resources department (HR)
- supply (logistics) department
Lean2S helps departments communicate better and make data-driven decisions. Although the activities of these departments are not directly monitored, their operational efficiency can also be assessed read more here)
Managers receive real-time data on production progress, disruptions, equipment utilization, and can make decisions regarding investments, development, employee allocation, and efficiency improvements. Operational assessment meetings will be brief and constructive using just a few metrics.
When connecting the monitoring system, we oftennotice such reactions:
- Top managers: now we will see everything - it is very good.
- Middle management leaders: we will see how they work - very good. But the top leaders will see everything too - not so well.
- Employees: now everyone will see how I work / do not work - it is very poorly.
However, Lean2S is primarily a tool for everyone to see the real situation and make data-driven decisions, as well as effectively implement orderly changes. For employees, Lean2S is a tool to show what hinders better work and achieving results (this can also include inappropriate decisions by management).
The system helps reduce downtime, increase equipment utilization, optimize employee work, identify bottlenecks, and improve overall production efficiency by up to 30% within the first 3 months.
It depends on the situation: how many devices need to be connected, what the operating principle is (how to get signals), and what the installation conditions are. A simple solution for connecting one device can take from 1 hour.
Currently, Lean2S is used in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, and Italy. We have no restrictions by region or country - we work with everyone who is interested in production monitoring and achieving efficiency.
Do you know how much 1 hour of your production time for one device costs?
Lean2S MS really costs less than one lost production hour. And do you know how many such hours you are now losing imperceptibly per month? The system pays for itself faster than you can fully utilize it.
Depending on the situation, monitoring one device can cost less per month than a manager's phone subscription bill :)
